Goldsmid, Albert Edward Williamson
(1846-1904)
   English communal leader, nephew of Isaac Goldsmid. A soldier by profession, he adopted Judaism later in life. He was a leading member of Hovevei Zion and administered the Jewish colonies in Argentina in 1892^. He may have been the model for the protagonist in George Eliot's Daniel Deronda.
